Accent Walls in Open Kitchen and Dining Room

A saturated color was used on several planes in this room:

The perimeter and all trim, ceiling and cabinetry were "painted out" in Benjamin Moore Linen White.

Pratt and Lambert Algerian was used on the wall above the cabinetry and is balanced by the french red and burgundy tiles on the fireplace-surround on the opposing wall.

Devine Ale was used on one plane of the free-standing wall.

Warm colors were used to make this large open room with cathedral ceilings more cozy.

The somewhat modern architecture juxtaposed with warm wood floors, antiques and oriental rugs is now nicely balanced.

I agree, Jean - the room came out very cozy and balanced. It's great that you included the exact colors you used here. Thank you for sharing! :)

Decorate your kitchen and dining room using the same colors... then they will complement each other and create a single, open space. Use yellow in the kitchen and terracotta in the dining room.
