The Worst Painting Contractors Ever

by David

Be careful when you choose house painting contractors for your home. I had one of the worst possible experiences when I chose an un-trustworthy painting team to paint my house.

Firstly, I let them give me countless requests for more money for supplies that they kept wasting. That is one lesson to learn: keep an inventory on the products you have paid for that the workers are using.

The second and probably worse thing that happened, was that the painters had no idea what they were doing. My house has vinyl siding on it which is very different to paint than just regular siding on the house. The paint job was blotchy and runny and I ended up paying for the job twice because it had to get redone.

Now the last part of the story which was absolutely the worst and the part you can learn from most. I gave them my garage door opener to get the supplies every day or at least that is what they said. Make them keep the supplies in their truck so that you do not have to give the painters entry into your house unless you really know them or trust them.

I thought I trusted the crew I hired to paint my house and they ended up stealing countless articles from me. I ended up having to get the police involved and it was a huge ordeal I never want to have to go through again, especially because I never recovered the articles.

Be smart about who you hire to work on your house!

Hiring a good contractor takes some time and patience
by: Elysium Painting, www.paintaa.com

My suggestion for hiring the right contractor is to take your time. Get plenty of quotes, most contractors will match bids, and make sure that your contractor has plenty of references. Check with these references, they will tell you whether or not to hire the contractor. You don't want to go with the cheapest contractor either because chances are they are just undercutting the competition in order to get your business and they will not care at all about your job. Hiring a contractor is a process, and you need to be careful when you do it.

Get as many bids as possible
by: David Peat

I agree with the last comment. Don't always go with just the cheapest bid because chances are if it sounds to good to be true, then it is. Most likely they will be using an inferior product from a home improvement warehouse and these companies do not make a product that lasts. Another tip would be that there should not be any money taken up front unless your job is a commercial project our company does not take ANY money upfront from the customer. We carry our own sundries, brushes, rollers etc. If you are a residential customer you should expect to pay when the job is complete and to your satisfaction. I hope these tips help you.

Subcontractors and payment problems
by: Disgruntled Customer.

Jan 6, 2012

Elysium Painting painted 7 rooms of my house starting on the 3rd of Nov. I have no quarrel with the painting, but after paying them at the end of November, I had a note taped to my door today from one of the subcontractors saying he was not paid, and was coming after me for payment. He had called Elysium several times to no avail. I was never able to reach them on the first call and had to leave numerous messages during the month that it took for them to finish the house, which their salesperson said would be finished in initially in 5 to 7 days.

It would be in your best interests to really research this company and ask questions regarding the subcontractors who work for them.
