Funky Accent Wall in My Living Room

Funky Pattern on the Accent Wall

Funky Pattern on the Accent Wall

I always wanted red furniture, so when the time came for new furniture, my husband gave in and we bought new red furniture for the living room. Then I realized my cool new furniture was hard to coordinate, so I went on a mission to find a funky new color and pattern for our walls.

I chose a light sage green and a cool frosty colored brown and accented it with red blocks. I used 2" masking tape to tape off the pattern and went to town painting.

My only problem was that I forgot to press firmly on all of the masking tape and it bled under the tape in some areas, requiring a quick touch up later.

The rest of the living room was finished off with the light sage green. Being that we are apartment dwellers, decorating can be somewhat limited. Luckily our management does not mind interior painting.

I plan to paint a similar pattern down the hall way, but hang clear shadow boxes over the accent squares for interesting trinkets or photos. Thanks for checking out our living room!

Wow, Cyndi...

...this is pretty cool! Kind of funky and Hollywood-glamourish at the same time! I'd love to see the room when it's completely decorated as well.

Thanks a lot for sharing your project with us! :)
